Founder

Rod grew up on a farm near Breckenridge, Minnesota, attended a one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from Breckenridge High School. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Business Economics and a minor in Mathematics. Rod enjoyed playing baseball for the Bison.

Rod earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. He earned his L.L.M in Taxation from Georgetown Law Center in Washington, D.C. Rod returned to the Twin Cities and practiced law for many years with a large law firm, before moving he and his family to Rochester, MN and opening his own firm, Rodney D. Anderson Law Offices, LLC. Rod established this firm to provide clear, understandable, complete, competent, and timely legal services to our clients.

Rod believed in serving his profession. In that regard, Rod taught Estate Planning at Hamiine School of Law, drafted deskbook materials for fellow attorneys to use in drafting estate plans for their clients, and lectured on estate planning topics for continuing education conferences. Rod served on the Minnesota Trust and Estate Council, a group that drafts and recommends legislation to the Minnesota Legislature in the area of wills, trusts, estates, and estate taxation. The legal profession recognized Rod’s skill and dedication to the practice of law by awarding him membership in The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, naming him a Super Lawyer annually, and naming Rod to the list of The Best Lawyers in America.  Rod earned Martindale-Hubbell’s AV* rating.

Serving his community was also a priority for Rod. He coached baseball for many years. He coached kids from the coach-pitch level through VFW, high school and American Legion levels. He served on boards for many not-for-profit organizations in the Rochester area, including Seasons Hospice, Gift of Life Transplant House, and his church. Rod also spoke to many groups on estate planning topics.

Rod loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He coached his children in baseball, softball, and hockey. Rod enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and watching baseball and softball. He passed on his belief in service to clients, profession and community to his children.
